In the two weeks that I didn’t play Pet Society, I:

1. Took swimming as a new hobby
2. Went to the gym more
3. Started to learn how to cook
4. Got to finish reading my books instead of just starting them and abandoning them for the computer
5. Spent more time actually talking to my fiance instead of just grunting while I was busy playing on Facebook or blogging about Pet Society
6. Got to blog in my real life blog more
7. Finished a painting

When I evaluated what I managed to do in just the brief initial two weeks, I told myself, “Wow, I didn’t realize I played Pet Society that much!”

So, as much as I loved the game, loved the people I played it with, and loved Treehorn, I decided not to go back to it or any other Facebook game in the near future. Maybe I’m just computer-inefficient and spend 2x as much time doing online stuff compared to faster users. But I think it’s the best for me right now. I will leave my Pet Society rooms and things intact in case I might dabble in it from time to time.

Thanks for following this blog while it was alive. I’m going to miss it and I’m going to miss you. Have fun playing!

I’m taking a brief leave from Pet Society Cat. I won’t be blogging for a week or two and even my playing will be sporadic. I think I overloaded on Pet Society over the last month or two and got PS-burnout. Plus I’ve decided to devote more time to reading (currently WoT) as my books are getting jealous of all the attention I’ve been lavishing on PS.

I won’t desert the blog and Treehorn and I will return, as usual, after this short rest. We all need a vacation from everything, after all.

Finally! All the seashells offered for free by Hideeni the Octopus. I like this collection.While the flag collection was nice, I didn’t know what to do with them. At least these could be displayed in the rooms.

The cute blue pet is not my Treehorn. It’s the pet of my brother Jiko, and it’s named Tobey. Hi Tobey! Aww… he’s a bit shy and hid behind Hideeni.

As Pet Society turns 2 years old, the game introduced new collaborative items: a surprise birthday box and party invitation. The surprise birthday box works just like regular collaborative items. One posts for help on one’s Facebook wall and 15 friends click the link to help you out.

The party invitation works like the hot air balloon and the playhouse. One asks for help from specific persons, they help through their Facebook requests page and you accept their help from the requests page as well.

As soon as one gets the party invitation, your friends will get prompted to visit you. Invites and pictures from Madison’s and Rebelle’s parties are shown below. Madison is Pet Society Singapore‘s pet. The  visiting pets all go to the room where the invitation is placed and the wonderful thing is they can all see each other! Up to three visiting pets can be seen at any time.

At Rebelle’s party, a fourth surprise guest arrived… look, it’s Hideeni! Rebelle and the other two guests were dirty but I was only able to clean Rebelle.

So what do the petlings do when they need food?

• They tell you what they want to eat through a word balloon.
• They stay close to the main-pet, begging for food just like a real pet animal would do.
• Their eyes grow big and pathetic, as if they’re suffering or about to cry.

What really horrifies me is when people buy a lot of petlings and are unable to keep up with their feeding. I visit my neighbors and their first-rooms often look like this:

They petlings converge on the main-pet, as if they’re smothering him, to the point that the main-pet could hardly be seen as he walks across his room. It’s a challenge to bathe or brush him. Sometimes, the game gets glitchy and the main-pets’ movement slow down due to the large number of petlings that are constantly moving. And seeing such a large number of tortured-looking petlings make me uncomfortable.

I guess it’s players like that who can use the new petling resort, although it’s pretty expensive at 45 cc each. Plus, one can only put 3 petlings in it at a time so I agree wholeheartedly with Pet Society Philippines that it’s a bad price for something that has limited use.

I know other players and bloggers who chose to sell their petlings because of the previously mentioned reasons and because they are expensive to feed. Pet Society World, for instance, chose to sell her two petlings a while back. While I only own three petlings – a dog (Mr. O’Leary), a cat (Mameha) and a lion (Zanta) – I have stopped purchasing additional ones no matter how attractive they seem to be, like the coyote and the new leopard. I have grown attached to my original petlings but I don’t want visitors to my house seeing my Treehorn smothered by a band of voracious petlings. As such, I’ve also separated my petlings into different rooms: Mr. O’Leary stays in the front room while the other two rotate between different rooms. And it’s true, feeding them everyday can be bloody expensive.

Don’t get me wrong. I like petlings, I think they are individually cute. But a large group of hungry petlings look just the opposite. *shudders*

Just 3 1/2 hours and only 1,243 of the 25,000 stock are left! I immediately bought one jumping tree frog for Treehorn since I don’t want a repeat of the solid gold teddy incident. I’m not sure where to put it so I stuck in Treehorn’s forest room for now. It looks so quirky, as the frog jumps every few seconds.

If you’re interested in getting one, I urge you to buy before they’re all gone!

I would never have completed this collection this early if not for my new Facebook friend, Emiliano. If you remember, Emiliano is the owner of the gazillionaire pet, Edelmiro, whose house was featured in the latest issue of Pet Society CRIBS. I logged in late tonight after being away from Facebook for the whole day and I was overwhelmed to see packages waiting for me that contained all these pretty flowers. Wow! Thank you!!!

I love the colorful new tropical flowers. The angel’s trumpet is particularly pretty and I finally know what a sarsaparilla flower looks like.
